The flying school you choose to provide your flight training is a particularly
important decision. After all, this will usually be your first contact with the world
of rotory flight. AIR T&G will provide you with the essential knowledge, ability and
ethics to enable you to fly a helicopter proficiently and most importantly safely.

Commercial Helicopter Licence:
If you are looking for a rewarding career within the helicopter industry that can
take you all over Australia, or for that matter all over the world, then this is the
licence for you.
Private Helicopter Licence:
Not interested in flying a helicopter for a living? If you are looking to fly
recreationally or you require a versatile means of transport for personal or
business use, then this is the licence for you.
Complete your licence rated on two different helicopter types.
We have a variety of helicopters available. The advantage of training in two
different helicopter types, is that on completion of your licence, you may be in a
better position for employment.
Flight Instruction from experienced pilots:
Our Chief Flying Instructor Tim Latimer has been flying helicopters commercially
for over 17 years, having extensive experience in mustering, aerial fire fighting,
gas pipeline support, search and rescue, high altitude operations in Papua New
Guinea, tourism, and of course flight training, with a 100% pass mark for his
students. Georgie Latimer, Tim's wife and fellow Flying Instructor has been flying
for nearly 8 years with experience in mustering, tourism, film/photography
and survey work. Both Tim & Georgie are passionate about producing quality pilots
in the industry; in particular, they want to ensure that when you finish your
training, you're ready for employment with solid foundations to make a good pilot!
Industry Contacts and Exposure to Real Commercial Operations:
Having plenty of experience working throughout Australia and Papua New Guinea,
we can provide you with sound industry contacts to help secure you with your
first job as a pilot. Being a commercial operation that carries out a wide range of
activities including helicopter tours, photography/filming, aerial surveys, flood and
fire support, enables us to provide you with invaluable industry exposure.
Chief Flying Instructor and CASA Approved testing officer Tim Latimer, has been
carrying out check and training to major charter and mustering companies
across Australia for the last 5 years. AIR T&G are the preferred check and
training supplier for North Australian Helicopters, Fitzroy Helicopters, Albatross
Helicopters and many others. With these industry contacts, you're in a great
position to gain a valuable start in a highly competitive industry.
One on one instruction with a personalised environment:
At AIR T&G you will receive one on one instruction. This will ensure you receive
the full attention of your instructor, gaining the most out of your learning
environment. Training in a personalised environment enables you to come away
with the very best training, knowledge and skill that make a competent,
professional, safe and employable helicopter pilot.
Flexible Instruction hours:
This is not a Monday to Friday 9 to 5 show! At AIR T&G we are open Saturdays
and Sundays for training, making life as a student that much easier, particularly if
you are juggling work as well. Talk to us about your schedule.

Approved Helicopter Safety Course
All AIR T&G graduates recieve training for our Accredited Helicopter Safety
Course, free of charge.
Researched & written by Tim and Georgie Latimer, the helicopter safety course
was the first in Australia to be accredited by the Aviation Safety Foundation of
Australia (ASFA).
Also approved by QBE Aviation Insurance, the course is flexible, thorough and
affordable, and can help reduce insurance premiums on some Robinson Helicopters
AIR T&G Helicopter Safety Course is aimed at providing pilots and management
with a better understanding of the fundamentals of basic risk management and
safe practices in order to keep you and your helicopter safely in the air.
The course is widely respected and conducted Australia wide. It is currently used
by some of the largest charter and mustering companies located in North
Queensland, the Northern Territory and Western Australia.
For ayone else interested in the Safety Course, sessions can range from half a
day to a full day, depending on class size.
With a fixed competitive day rate. Pilots can also undertake their check flight in
the same day, also included in the day rate.
Accommodation:
If you are requiring accommodation to be organised, this can be arranged through
the AIR T&G office. We have accommodation available, which is located
approximately 10 minutes from the Ballina Airport where you will be training, and
only 2 minutes to the beach and shops. Accommodation is self contained and
further information is available on request. (See pictures opposite, which are of
our student accommodation.)

Based at the growing Ballina Byron Gateway Airport, you'll have all the perks of a
larger city based operation, without the expenses or delays of operating at larger
controlled airports. The perfect training environment; coastal, mountains, bush
and city all at our doorstep.
Located just south of Byron Bay, we're only 2 hours drive to Brisbane, and less
than an hour to the Gold Coast, with frequent airline services direct to Sydney
and Melbourne.
